About the Festival
In the heart of Mizoram, where lush landscapes unfurl their beauty, the captivating Anthurium Festival is an ode to nature's bounties and a celebration of the exquisite anthurium flower. This annual spectacle unfolds against the enchanting backdrop of Reiek Mountain at the Reiek Tourist Resort, just an hour's scenic drive from Aizawl. Over three glorious days, the Anthurium Festival unveils the richness of Mizoram's heritage, accentuated by the resplendent bloom of the anthurium.
🌱 Origins & Community Empowerment
Conceived through the collaborative efforts of Mizoram's Tourism and Department of Horticulture, the festival blooms when the anthurium flower is at its zenith. The festival's roots began as an initiative to empower local women, offering them financial independence through the cultivation of these exquisite blossoms. Spearheaded by the Zo Anthurium Growers Society, this initiative transformed Mizoram into a thriving hub for anthurium cultivation and exports.

Getting to Reiek
🚂 By Train (Preferred Route)
The closest and preferred railhead is Sairang Railway Station (near Aizawl), which directly connects Mizoram to the broad-gauge railway network. Alternatively, Silchar Railway Station (Assam) is located ~180 km from Aizawl. Taxis and vehicles operate regularly from Sairang & Silchar to Aizawl & Reiek.
✈️ By Flight
Fly into Lengpui Airport (AJL) near Aizawl, which connects to Kolkata, Guwahati, and New Delhi. Reiek Tourist Resort is about a 1.5 to 2-hour drive from Lengpui Airport.
🚕 By Road
Reiek is situated approximately 29 km (~1 hour scenic drive) from Aizawl city. Taxis and private vehicle hires are readily available from Aizawl.
ILP (Inner Line Permit)

All Indian citizens (non-Mizoram residents) require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter the state of Mizoram. Foreign nationals require registering with the local registration office (FRO).
